WELCOME

October 1, 2016

This informal "Design To Go" blog began as I departed for a yearlong, around the world Design Sabbatical, a break after more than 30 years as a Graphic Designer/Creative Director in the museum world. It’s a casual record of design-related findings on the road, and I found that what stimulates my design thinking is of interest to others. My goal was to return to San Francisco in October 2017 inspired with fresh perspectives and energized to restart my design career.

I returned to SF one year, 14 countries and more than 230 posts later. I carried home a fresh international perspective, a grateful heart, and a back pack full of 176 collages. I decided to continue my blog and postcard collage practice, partly in response to popular demand (Thank you SEGD, AIGA Eye on Design, and Design Observer), and partly as a valuable way to continue to see and think.

Fast forward 5 years. I’ve transitioned to a new life based in Mexico. With the post pandemic world opening up, I plan to restart my blog and see where it goes.
